Introduction
Our client, a leading retail chain, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Buyer specializing in menswear to join their dynamic team. The company values innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction and offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing fashion brand.
Description
The Buyer will be responsible for selecting and purchasing menswear products that meet market demand, align with fashion trends, and satisfy customer needs. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, passionate about fashion, and capable of managing the end-to-end buying process, including vendor management, stock replenishment, and trend analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and select menswear products in line with the company’s brand, customer preferences, and market trends.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, new brands, and products that could enhance the company’s menswear offering.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Monitor sales performance and analyse data to make informed decisions about product reordering, phasing out underperforming products, and introducing new collections.
- Manage stock levels and inventory turnover to ensure optimal product availability in stores without overstocking.
- Collaborate with the merchandising and marketing teams to ensure product launches align with promotional strategies.
- Attend trade shows, fashion events, and supplier meetings to stay informed about industry trends and potential new suppliers.
- Ensure that all purchased products meet the company’s quality standards and customer expectations.
- Track and manage the buying budget, ensuring that all purchases are within budgetary guidelines.
- Report regularly to senior management on buying performance, trends, and recommendations for improvement.
Education Profile
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Buyer, preferably within the menswear or fashion retail sector.
- Strong understanding of fashion trends, particularly in menswear, and a passion for the industry.
- Proven experience in vendor management, including negotiating terms and managing relationships.
- Ability to analyse sales data and market trends to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and buying-related software.
