Introduction
Our client, a leader in the retail industry, is seeking an experienced and motivated Buyer to join their team in Durban. Specializing in Ladieswear, this role requires a candidate with an understanding of the latest trends in fashion and a passion for sourcing high-quality products.
Description
The Buyer (Ladieswear) will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing ladieswear products that align with the company’s brand identity and customer preferences. The ideal candidate should possess strong negotiation skills, a keen understanding of market trends, and the ability to manage supplier relationships. This role also involves closely monitoring sales performance and making data-driven decisions to enhance the product offering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and select ladieswear products that meet the company’s quality and fashion standards.
- Conduct market research to stay ahead of fashion trends and identify new product opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, contracts, and terms.
- Manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of best-selling products.
- Analyse sales data and consumer preferences to make informed buying decisions.
- Collaborate with the merchandising and marketing teams to align product selection with promotional strategies.
- Attend trade shows, fashion expos, and meetings with suppliers to stay informed on the latest industry trends and developments.
- Oversee the entire purchasing process, from order placement to delivery, ensuring all products meet the company’s standards.
- Monitor budgetary spending and ensure buying decisions are cost-effective.
- Provide regular reports and updates to management on sales performance, inventory status, and market trends.
Education Profile
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Buyer, preferably in ladieswear or a related fashion category.
- Strong understanding of fashion and consumer trends in ladieswear.
- Proven experience in vendor management and negotiation.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and make informed decisions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management software.
