Future Careers is recruiting on behalf of a leading national retail group for an experienced and commercially minded E-Commerce Lead.This is a key strategic position based at the company’s Head Office in Bellville, Cape Town, offering the opportunity to shape and accelerate the digital growth of a dynamic retail brand.

Description

The E-Commerce Lead will own the end-to-end strategy, performance, and operational excellence of the company’s online retail channels.You will be responsible for driving digital revenue growth, improving customer experience, and ensuring a seamless integration between online and in-store journeys. This role requires a digital leader with both creative and analytical strength - someone who can combine strategic thinking with strong execution to deliver measurable results and elevate the brand’s online presence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the E-Commerce strategy in alignment with the overall business goals
  • Drive online sales growth, traffic acquisition, and conversion through data-driven insights
  • Oversee website functionality, UX/UI, and merchandising to ensure an intuitive, engaging customer journey
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, IT, Buying, Planning, and Supply Chain teams
  • Manage digital operations, including product uploads, inventory, fulfilment, payments, and returns
  • Analyse key metrics, customer behaviour, and conversion data to optimise performance
  • Partner with Digital Marketing teams to implement SEO, SEM, social, and email campaigns
  • Develop and manage the E-Commerce budget, ensuring ROI and cost efficiency across platforms and campaigns
  • Lead online promotional campaigns, exclusive sales, and performance-driven initiatives
  • Build relationships with service providers, agencies, and group shared-service partners to align technology, logistics, and customer experience

Education Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in E-Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in e-commerce management, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of achieving measurable online revenue growth and performance optimisation
  • Strong experience with e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce, or Stock2Shop)
  • Knowledge of digital marketing, SEO/SEM, social media, content marketing, and email automation
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and conversion rate optimisation (CRO) tools
  • Familiarity with UX/UI principles, inventory systems, payment gateways, and logistics integrations
