Introduction
Future Careers is recruiting on behalf of a leading national retail group for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Store Planner. This exciting opportunity is based at the company’s Head Office in Bellville, Cape Town and plays a key role in ensuring that the right stock reaches the right stores, at the right time, to maximise sales performance and customer satisfaction.
Description
We’re looking for an analytical thinker who is passionate about numbers, stock flow, and optimising retail performance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, resilient, and able to translate data into actionable insights that drive sales and margin improvement across a national retail footprint.
As a Store Planner, you’ll be responsible for optimising store performance through effective merchandise distribution, sales analysis, and stock management. You’ll partner closely with the Planning, Buying, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure every store receives the right product mix to meet customer demand and achieve business targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage the distribution of stock across stores to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability
- Develop and maintain location plans and store clusters based on store size, performance, and customer profile
- Conduct sales and stock analysis across stores to identify trends, opportunities, and underperforming categories
- Provide accurate allocations for new and existing stores in line with seasonal and non-seasonal strategies
- Monitor store performance and prepare regular feedback reports following store visits
- Partner with internal teams to resolve stock queries and ensure accurate inventory flow
- Support the planning team with input into merchandise and seasonal strategies
- Collaborate with supply chain and logistics teams to ensure smooth replenishment processes
Education Profile
Qualifications & Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Statistics, or Costing (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in store planning within a retail environment
- Strong understanding of retail merchandise cycles, stock control, and replenishment processes
- Experience with planning systems such as JDA Allocations, Location Planning, and reporting tools like QlikView
- Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis)
