Introduction

A well-established retail supermarket is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to oversee the daily operations of the butchery department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, controlling stock, maintaining food safety standards, and leading a large team to ensure operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage butchery targets and profitability to achieve financial goals.
• Control stock levels and manage product ranges according to customer demand.
• Procure quality raw materials and manage supplier relationships.
• Ensure accurate pricing, scale calibration, and point-of-sale system management.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly gross profit (GP) reporting.
• Oversee weekly stocktakes and ensure accurate inventory records.
• Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, and food safety compliance.
• Implement standard operating procedures to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
• Manage and lead a team of approximately 45 staff members.
• Oversee staff scheduling, training, performance management, and development.
• Ensure excellent customer service and product quality standards.

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in butchery management, preferably in a retail environment.
• Experience managing large teams (30+ staff).
• Strong knowledge of meat processing, production, and stock control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Strong financial understanding of pricing, stock control, and profitability.
• Relevant butchery or food production qualifications will be advantageous
