Introduction

A well-established retail supermarket is seeking an experienced Fresh Produce Manager to oversee the Fruit and Vegetable Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stock, ensuring product freshness and presentation, leading staff, and driving departmental profitability

Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Fruit and Vegetable Department to maximise gross profit.
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the department.
  • Place daily orders and estimate quantities and ordering frequency of products.
  • Manage stock control, stock rotation, and organisation of inventory.
  • Conduct weekly stocktakes and monitor shrinkage and wastage levels.
  • Ensure the freshness, quality, and variety of produce at all times.
  • Maintain excellent merchandising and product displays.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety standards.
  • Lead and manage staff, including shift planning and performance management.
  • Stay informed about product improvements and source the best available produce.

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Fresh Produce Manager or similar role.
  • Must have retail experience within a Fruit and Vegetable department.
  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce products and quality standards.
  • Experience with buying and ordering fruit and vegetables.
  • Proven leadership experience managing staff.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale systems will be advantageous.

  • Strong team player with a hands-on approach.
  • High level of quality awareness and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage stock effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Creative ability for merchandising and product displays.
