Introduction

We are seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead our Pinetown retail supermarket. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving sales, managing operations, developing a high-performing team, and ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for customers. The ideal candidate is results-driven, customer-focused, and experienced in retail management, with a proven ability to optimize store performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee opening and closing procedures of the store to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team to achieve sales targets and deliver outstanding customer service.
• Ensure all staff are trained and performing to company standards.
• Manage stock control, including stock rotation, stock takes, and availability of promotional items.
• Maintain quality and cold chain management, including regular fridge temperature checks.
• Conduct floor walks to monitor store presentation, customer service, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor and control gross profit (GP) margins across all departments.
• Implement wastage control measures to minimize losses.
• Maintain high standards of store hygiene, safety, and compliance.
• Drive sales and merchandising by planning and executing innovative strategies.
• Ensure shelves are correctly stocked and monitor replenishment daily.
• Collaborate with receiving teams to ensure efficient handling of perishable products.
• Control store expenses and budgets to maximize profitability.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate staff scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Implement marketing initiatives and promotional activities to drive store traffic.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.
• Collaborate with suppliers and head office to ensure product availability and operational excellence.

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a Store Manager or similar retail management role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Sound knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, sales strategies, and cold chain management.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed business decisions.
• Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Relevant qualifications in retail management or business administration are a plus.
