Introduction

A growing fashion retail company based in Durban is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their team. This role is suited to a hands-on individual with strong analytical ability, a solid accounting foundation, and a proactive approach to managing financial processes.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations accurately and timeously
• Review and oversee timesheets and payroll processing
• Supervise and guide the Bookkeeper, ensuring accurate capturing and processing of transactions
• Ensure all financial records are maintained in line with accounting standards
• Assist with month-end and year-end reporting processes
• Identify discrepancies and resolve variances efficiently
• Prepare reports and provide insights to support business decision-making
• Assist with ad hoc financial and administrative duties as required

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Accounting Degree
• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably within retail or FMCG
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience supervising junior finance staff (advantageous)

Working Hours:

• Monday to Thursday: 08:00 - 16:30
• Friday: 08:00 - 16:00
• Saturday: 08:00 - 14:00
