An established freight forwarding and logistics company is seeking an experienced and results-driven Seafreight Manager to lead and oversee all seafreight operations within the Johannesburg branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing cargo movement, supervising operational teams, ensuring service excellence, maintaining profitability, and driving operational efficiency within the seafreight division.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the freight movement of cargo
• Supervise and manage the Seafreight department and operations team
• Ensure accurate administration of shipment files
• Monitor and report on service provider performance
• Drive sales growth and maintain strong client relationships
• Manage and develop the Seafreight channel
• Oversee financial management and operational profitability
• Review and approve cost sheets
• Ensure compliance with company policies and quality management systems
• Improve operational efficiencies and customer service delivery

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
• 3-year Freight Forwarding related qualification at NQF Level 6

Experience

• Minimum 10 years’ seafreight experience within the Freight Forwarding industry
• At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management capacity

Knowledge & Technical Competencies

• Strong understanding of INCO Terms
• Knowledge of international trade principles and procedures
• Understanding of container usage and cargo movement throughout the supply chain
• Customs and statutory cargo clearance procedures
• Freight forwarding and clearing document flow procedures
• Understanding of international currencies
• Geography and global trade routes knowledge
• Rate and proposal implementation and maintenance
• Financial management and cost control principles
• Computer literacy: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Knowledge of external business environment and supply chain processes
• Quality Management System compliance
