Introduction

A leading private school group is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join their finance team in Johannesburg.

This role will support the Financial Manager in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, compliance, and asset safeguarding across multiple educational institutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial and management accounting, month-end reporting, reconciliations, payroll oversight, audit support, and driving process improvements across finance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Month-end reporting and journal preparation 
• Balance sheet and VAT reconciliations
• Financial statement review and variance analysis
• Group reporting and consolidation packs
• Audit and tax review support
• Source-to-pay process coordination and control
• Payroll controls and process standardisation
• Continuous improvement of financial processes and controls

Education Profile

Minimum Requirements:

• B.Com or B.Com (Hons) Degree
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles
• Strong financial reporting, reconciliations, and control environment experience
• 3+ years corporate finance experience post articles (not audit, tax, or accounting advisory firms)
