Introduction

A well-renowned freight and logistics Company based in Johannesburg is looking for an experienced and commercially driven Global Trade Lane Manager - Asia to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong sales and trade lane professional with experience in international freight forwarding, business development and managing strategic customer and trade relationships.

Description

  • Provide input to Air and Ocean Procurement for product development.
  • Plan and carry out International Sales Visits (ISVs) locally and abroad.
  • Plan and carry out Consignee Selling Trips (CSTs) abroad when required.
  • Receive and coordinate incoming CSTs.
  • Create local awareness of the assigned trade lane through presentations, sales kits, cheat sheets, pricing links and other relevant resources.
  • Educate local sales staff through joint sales calls.
  • Escalate pricing and market issues relating to target accounts to Procurement.
  • Report on market information, competitor activities, product issues and other relevant trade lane developments.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service.
  • Visit potential customers, including sales trips to the Far East twice a year.
  • Monitor shipments for VIP clients.
  • Negotiate rates.
  • Manage Global Trade Lane calls and engagements.
  • Monitor results and stakeholder engagement.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System.

Education Profile

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and English at HG level.
  • BCom degree in Sales & Marketing or a related qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • Minimum 5 years' working experience in the clearing and forwarding industry.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the international transportation industry, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in professional sales and Global Trade Lane - Asia.
  • Knowledge of servicing and marketing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of international trade principles and practices.
  • Understanding of the external business environment.
  • Knowledge of Company service charge rates.
  • Knowledge of tariff calculation concepts.
  • Knowledge of Company terms of payment.
  • Knowledge of CRM and Incoterms.
  • Knowledge of carrier and depot conditions of trade.
  • Knowledge of national currencies and international codes.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
