Introduction

A leading freight and logistics company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Senior Import Controller - Seafreight to join their team. The ideal candidate will have strong end-to-end import controlling experience within the clearing and forwarding industry, with sound knowledge of international shipping processes, Incoterms, customs documentation, and transport coordination.

Description

• Coordinate and manage the forwarding of import shipments.

• Manage the clearing of shipments.

• Coordinate transport arrangements for import cargo.

• Handle invoicing and the administration of shipment files.

• Arrange insurance cover and process claims.

• Provide guidance and support to Import Controllers and Learners.

• Ensure compliance with the requirements of the company's quality management system.

• Perform ad hoc duties as required.

Education Profile

• 5-7 years of recent import controlling experience within the clearing and forwarding industry.

• Proven track record of end-to-end import process execution.

• Ability to coordinate the movement of import cargo throughout the international transport chain in line with client import requirements.

• Knowledge of Incoterms.

• Knowledge of commercial, transport, carrier, depot, and statutory body documentation and stamps.

• Sound knowledge of seafreight shipment types.

• Sound knowledge of claims and insurance processes.

• Knowledge of geographic locations.

• Knowledge and interpretation of rate structures.

• Knowledge of national currencies and international codes.

• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Knowledge of RCG (Reporting of Conveyances and Goods).

• Financial acumen and data quality awareness.

• Sound knowledge of ShipShape.

• Customer service experience, particularly in demanding customer environments
